Life
is good at the University Club Plantation. Just ask the scores
of egrets that roost nightly in the trees that border one of the
larger lakes on the former sugar cane plantation.
It's even better for residents who call the exclusive community
south of L.S.U. home.
Golfers revel in the many links-related features that go along
with a private 22-hole course designed by LSU alumnus and senior
architect Jim Lipe of the Jack Nicklaus design group. A major course renovation in 2010 makes University Club one of the finest courses in the south. In addition
to the four practice holes and the usual practice areas, there's
the Chuck Winstead Golf Academy run by the former L.S.U. golfer
and manager of the 28 Jack Nicklaus Golf Academies. Membership
is available to all residents who wish to join.
Tennis buffs, too, can enjoy the good life thanks to four lighted,
clay-surfaced courts with tennis activities and lessons provided
by head pro Charley Garrido.
For residents who do
not play golf, a Tennis/Swimming membership is available. And
the several lakes in the development are stocked and ready for
whiling away lazy hours fishing.
Walking and jogging the sidewalks, lakes and streets are all the
more entertaining thanks to the beautiful panoramic views that
include those Louisiana egrets, herons, ducks, swans and other
assorted wildlife.
The entrance to University Club monitored by 24 hour video surveillance
with a guard on duty from 7 P.M. to 7 A.M seven days a week
And, it wouldn't really be Louisiana without a place to find delicious
food. Located in the clubhouse, the University Club Grill is open
to all residents.
